The Origin of Israelites’ Afflictions in Egypt

      Text: Exo 1: 11

 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

1. FOUR STATEMENTS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER ABOUT AFFLICTIONS.
2. Affliction can be caused, and controlled.
   1. It is very clear that the afflictions of the Israelites in Egypt were caused by those who were in the position of power.

     Therefore, anything that can be caused by a man can also be controlled by a man.

• Any affliction caused for you by somebody can be surely controlled to stop. This is why poverty is a choice!  
• Affliction can be prevented.
  • You can envisage afflictions. When you envisage afflictions, go ahead to envision the preventive measures.
  • You can envisage afflictions, but never attempt to preview it – that will be a foolish step.
  • For example, as a teenager, when you get pregnant at age 13, this is a way of envisaging and previewing afflictions.  
  • When you neither go to school nor learn a vocation, this is a way to envisage afflictions.
  • Anything that can be envisaged can also be prevented if you are wise.
• Affliction can be abolished and banished.
  • If it could be possible to abolish slave trades in those days, it is also possible to banish afflictions in your life.
  • To banish afflictions require, wisdom, determination and the help of God.
• Affliction is not satanic.
  • Satan is always happy and magnified when you attribute your afflictions to him.
  • When you attribute your afflictions to Satan your minds will not open to look for solutions.
  • The more you attribute your afflictions to Satan, the more you remain in the afflictions.
  • Therefore, stop attributing your affliction to Satan. Affliction is not satanic!

The factors that caused the Israelites’ afflictions in Egypt show this clearly.

• FACTORS THAT ORIGINATED AFFLICTIONS OF ISRAELITES IN EGYPT
• The death of Joseph – the death of the breadwinner.
• Exo 1:6And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
  • There is one thing to raise a breadwinner for a family, there is another thing the breadwinner has continuity.
  • If you have only a helper, you are like a man whose all eggs are in one basket.
  • The subsequent generation of the Israelites in Egypt suffered affliction because no other person was raised after Joseph.
  • The Israelites wouldn’t have been afflicted if they had more than one benefactor.
• How many benefactors do you want God to raise for you?
• Change of government.
• Exo 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
  • Change of government is another factor that is responsible for the afflictions of Israelites in Egypt.
  • The bible says, a new king arose in Egypt who knew not Joseph – this means Joseph’s successor did not acknowledge the works Joseph did.
  • He decided to remove all the inputs of Joseph from Egypt, that was why he decided to disfavor all the Hebrews in Egypt so the legacy of Joseph would be removed from the land.
  • The new government came up with an agenda and policy which brought great afflictions to the Israelites.
  • The citizens are bound to suffer if the agenda of the government is not for the blessings of the masses.
• Let’s pray that our government will not come up with an agenda that will add to the afflictions of people in this nation.
• The increase of the population of the Israelites.
• Exo 1: 9And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
  • Pro 27:4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
  • Wrath, anger, and envy are the three combined elements that can come together in the minds of a person to afflict.
  • The new king in Egypt developed wrath, anger, and envy against the Israelites. because of their unimaginable development in the strange land.
  • And this resulted in issuing a decree that would affect the growth.
  • The Israelites did not enter the land of Egypt as slaves, but the anger of the king migrated them to slaves.

The anger of anybody that had brought afflictions upon you shall be reversed today in Jesus name.

• Misconception of the King of Egypt over the Israelites.
• Exo 1:10Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it comes to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they also join themselves unto our enemies, and fight against us, and get them up out of the land.
  • Now the affliction had been set in since the king and his councils had decided to deal cunningly with the Israelites.
  • The pathway to afflictions is the exhibition of cunningness!
  • If you notice the manifestation of cunningness against you at any organization, it is either you prepare for afflictions, or you escape for your life like the Israelites in Egypt.

                   Father, expose whoever is bringing afflictions to my life cunningly.
