YOU ARE NOT ALONE- PASTOR AMON BONSY GEOFFREY
I want to assure you our beloved brethren, who are in the state of widowhood and widowerhood/orphans, the experience(s) you are going through today is just another phase of your lives which is not peculiar or limited to you alone. Others have passed through it, you are going through it now, while others are still coming to go through it at their own appointed time.
A MESSAGE OF HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS/ORPHANS, DELIVERED BY PASTOR A. B. GEOFFREY, DURING THE MAIDEN INAUGURATION OF THE “WIDOW/WIDOWER SUPPORT INITIATIVE” ON SATURDAY 22 JUNE, 2024, AT THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH NIGERIA, OLORUNDA KETU, LAWNA HEADQUARTERS, LAGOS NIGERIA
HEB. 13:5
It is written, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” [Thes. 5:18) The scripture also enjoined us to know by faith that whatever happens to us will surely work together for oor good because we love God, and that we are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28). The purposes and plans of God for our lives therefore is never to cause us needless tears and anguish
However, we must remember that we are living in a world of uncertainty where TIME is feed for everything under the sun. According to the scriptures, there is a time to be born, and a time to die. There is also a time to weep and mourn, while we also have a time to laugh and dance in celebration.
But I have good news for you this day. God, in the greatness of His mercy, grace, and faithfulness, have decided to think upon you for good by the establishment of this noble Foundation named “WIDOW/WIDOWER SUPPORT INITIATIVE”, through the hands of His beloved kindhearted children, in order to ameliorate your pains and bring succour to you. Because He (the Lord) has promised in His Word that “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” -(Heb. 13:5c). It is written also that “when my father and my mother (or a beloved one) forsake me, perhaps by means of inevitable death), then the Lord will take me up.” (Emphasis mine) – Psalm27: 10.
Now, I think it is pertinent here to consider just a few people in the Bible who had similar painful experiences and how God came through for them in His faithfulness and love:
The Zarephath woman who was a poor widow, yet God sent Prophet Elijah to her house. Because of her. hospitality to this man of God, hunger and scarcity was banished from her house. Her near hopeless situation of lack was turned into abundant resources. 1Kgs. 17:9-16. The wife of a prophet who died leaving huge debt behind for his surviving wife and children, God sent Prophet Elisha to bless her bottle of oil and she became an automatic oil dealer by which she settled all her debts and had more than enough to take care of herself and her children. 2kgs. 4:1-7
Another poor lonely widow from the city of Nain, whose only son died, perhaps due to her inability to give him proper medical treatment of their time. While men were unable to help her, Jesus the Lord, the Help of the helpless came to her rescue. Her dead son was raised back to life and handed back to her alive without spending a penny-Luke 7:11-15. This is the love, mercy and faithfulness of God. God is still in the business of performing miracles and wonders today, turning hopelessness into hopes of glory, raising emergency helps to the helpless. That is why He is called, “a very present help in trouble-Psalm 46:1. Halleluyah! We cannot but mention also one Pa Simeon, who was so old yet very fervent in the Spint, serving the Lord. Even in his old age, God did not forsake him. He was preserved alive and given the privilege to see the birth of Jesus the Saviour before his death-Luke 2:25-26 I am here by God’s grace today, to encourage you the widows and widowers/orphans, that God is faithful. He has not and will never forsake any of His beloved children, especially those of you in this position today-Heb. 11:5c Read also ha.41:10.
This Foundation being inaugurated today, through the grace of God shall be used in no small way to bless you, and to fulfill the yearnings of God for your lives. Your sorrows shall be turned into joy and laughter in Jesus Almighty name, Amen! Be of good cheers, because He Cares for You!
