Our Lord God is merciful, gracious, longsuffering, abounding in goodness and truth (Exodus 34:6). His right hand is glorious in power, enemies cannot withstand it. Glory, honour, and majesty to Him for His manifold benefits He has always bestowed on us since the seminar was held last year. His daily provisions, victory over our battles and grace to be alive to witness another Seminar despite all the perils in the nation are wonderful. Like Apostle Paul has rightly said, “We are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).
It is my personal belief that you have been putting into practice all that you have been learning for all these years because we are seeing positive changes in the church, especially amongst you the ministers wives. The teachings are meant for your personal development and growth in the ministry. This year’s LAWNA Wide Ministers’ Wives Seminar as usual is God’s inspired as part of our R.A.I.S.E Agenda to put smiles on the faces of the afflicted in our various assemblies. “Strengthening the weak hands” (Isaiah 35:3) is a clarion call to you to represent God in all ramifications; to help the weak and restore their hope. In our churches, there are weak brethren as well as strong ones; the feeble as well as the valiant ones (Galatians 6:1). God, by the mouth of his prophet, is calling on the strong brethren to impart their strength to the weaker brethren, uplifting their “weak hands,” as Aaron and Hur did for Moses (Exodus 17:12).
The prophet Isaiah in verse 4 releases the word of comfort and hope to the afflicted; “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with recompense; he will come and save you.” In our present trials, we need the strong hands of the Lord to overcome our fearful hearts. Our fearful hearts are not helped by a vain or vague optimism; they are helped by the assured confidence that God will come and save us.
Lifting the weak hands is to represent God in performing the duties of ministry. Parts of the benefits that will accompany the lifting of the hands of the weak are stated in Isaiah 35: 5-6a; “The sick and the diseased shall be healed. Then the eyes of the blind shall open, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer and the tongue of the dumb sing. When God’s salvation comes, miraculous power comes with it. It is a miracle for the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the lame to run, and the mute to speak. However, God won’t save the afflicted by coming down from heaven. Rather, He uses His children like you to perform these wonders. Paul says, “We that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves” (Romans 15:1).
Your supportive role is highly needed at all times to fulfil this mandate. As a helpmate to your spouse, you should sincerely incorporate true love to support him. In the church, you should support the weak by lifting them prayerfully and financially. You should visit your members with your husband. You should create avenues to advice members. With the assistance of the presbytery, fruitful workshops, symposia and seminars should be organized. Do not forget that you are not doing anyone favour but yourselves if you carry out this task with all sincerity and diligence.
The Lord has seen us in our helpless state and has prepared to remould and reshape the church through us. I, therefore, implore you to listen patiently to our facilitators as the Holy Spirit shall teach us through them. Pay attention to every detail and be ready to assimilate and practice them as in the past times. I pray for journey mercies, God’s protection and a fruitful Seminar period in Jesus’ name.
At this point, I declare this year 2024 LAWNA Wide Ministers Wives Seminar open in the name of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thanks, and God bless you.
