TOPIC: GET RID OF ALL FILTHINESS
TEXT: JAMES 1:21, REFERENCES – Zech. 3:3-4, Leviticus 19:1-20, Deut. 27:15-26
A: INTRODUCTION
We are living in the days and time when men are trying to change the standards and moral codes that have been set down centuries ago by God. One of the attributes of God is holiness, having zero tolerance for filthiness. God is holy and just; He changes not, neither will His standards adapt to meet the imaginary progressiveness of the twentieth century.
Every institution has its own modus operandi duly set up for the smooth running of the organization. The code of conducts are set of rules and guidelines made to prevent friction in the wheel of progress journey to God’s abode.
The Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost Romans 14:17. The language of the Kingdom of God are Holiness, Purity, Sanctification, Consecration, Righteousness, Cleanness and Godliness.
This is what God is calling us unto in this Holy Convention because we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ – II Cor. 3:10.
B: OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING
The objectives of this teaching “Get rid of all Filthiness” are as follows:
i. To emphasize the necessity of heeding this command now and not later.
ii. To impress it to the hearers that the dispensation of grace does not cover filthiness Rom. 6:1
iii. To establish the fact that no filthy person has access to God.
iv. To expose the antics of the enemy in using filthiness to construct a formidable barrier to accessing God.
v. It will also serve as clarion call to those who are ready to appear before the judgement seat of Christ to retrace their way back to God.
C: DEFINITION OF KEYWORD
i. Get rid – It is an idea of confessing, repenting of, and eliminating every trace and semblance of evil that corrupts out lives, reduce our hunger for God becloud our understanding of God.
ii. All – It is an adjective that modify both filthiness and wickedness, it means every instance of filthiness without exception. God is not satisfied with partial impurity. Filthiness – literally
(a) It means dirt or filth (b) (c) State of moral corruption or defilement.
iii. Uncleanness – This is any and every habit, behaviour or character that is not in consonance with purity.
D: ORIGIN OF FILTHINESS
From the Bible, we learn that angels had sex with human beings and this introduced unusual creatures into the world – Gen. 6:4; these unusual creatures are what we call parahumans. The Nephilims called the giants, the Gibbor were tyrants or mighty men and the Sem were famous people or men of renown. These three types of super para-humans introduces a lot of evil into the world. Gen. 6:1-8; Falling angels – Rev. 12:9, I Cor. 2:8
God withdrew His fellowship and also His glory and they became naked, curses were pronounced upon them as consequences of their action.
E: SOURCES OF FILTHINESS
1. Unregenerated Heart: Jer. 17:9, Matthew 7:21, Romans 1:24 & 28
This is the kind of heart that are opened to satanic sins:
a. Signs and consequences of Satanic sins are:
Misleading Colleagues – Gen. 3:1-4, 22-23; Rev. 12:7-9
• Starting quarrels and wars – Rev. 12:7; 16:14
Opposing, God’s servants or accusing them wrongly- I Pet. 5:8, Matt. 16:23, Rev. 12:9-10-
Making Christians fall – Matt. 13:41 & 42
Being a liar – John 8:44, Rev. 12:9
b. Solution:
Control your flesh – Gal. 5:13
• Control your thought – Phil 4:8
• Rebuke devil – II Cor. 10:5
2. When you are involved in accursed sins: Deut. 27:15-26 Curses are just like leprosy
a. Signs and Consequences of accursed sins are:
. The sin of idolatry – Deut. 27:15
• Dishonouring your parents – Deut. 27:16
• Cheating and Stealing – Deut. 27:17, Zech. 5:3-4 Bestiality – Deut. 27:21
• Incest, deception, assassination and sorcery or divination – Lev. 19:26 & 31
b. Solution
• Breaking off the yoke of the curse
• Be filled with Holy Spirit – Eph. 5:18
3. Wearing of Filthy Garment: Zech. 3:3-4, Rev. 3:4
These are heavily weighted sins because they are called abominations, an abomination is a bad, shameful and detestable action.
a. Signs and Consequences:
• Pride Prov. 16:12
• Wickedness – Prov. 16:12, Gen. 38:6-7
. Lying Prov. 12:22
• A froward heart – Prov. 11:20
• and Injustice Prov. 17:15, Lev. 19:15
b. Solution:
i. Seek and set your minds on the things that are above – Col. 3:1-2
ii. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind – Romans 12:3
iii. Put on the new nature
F: EFFECTS OF FILTHINESS
As a human being, you must be aware of the six openings in your body. Each of these holes leads to a deeper and inner section of your being. You will notice that sinful activity in any of these holes leads to filthiness:
(1) The door of the ear- Mark 4:24; (2) Eye – Luke 11:34; (3) Mouth – Rev. 6:8, (4) Nose- do not inhale evil; (5) Your private part-Rev. 18:2-3 and (6) Your Anus Rom 1:26-28
The under listed are the effect of filthiness and reasons why it must be get rid off.
i. Filthiness destroys the relationship between God and man. Case study of King Saul Samuel 16:14-15.
ii. Filthiness is extremely punishable e.g. Achan in Joshua 7:11-12
iii. Filthiness kills e.g. Nabad and Abihu – Lev. 10:1-2
iv. Filthiness incurs curses e.g. Reuben – Gen. 49:3-4
V. Filthiness inhibits prayer – Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1-3
vi. Filthiness is anti-prosperity – Prov. 28:13
G: GUIDELINES TO GET RID OF FILTHINESS
i. Is it lawful for me – I Cor. 6:12
ii. Will this bring me under its power and not the power of Jesus Christ – 1 Cor. 10:23
iii. Flesh mortification – Col. 3:4-5
iv. Will it affect the faith of others – I Cor. 8:13, Rom. 14:21
V. Will it lead to the glory of God – I Cor. 10:31
vi. Resisting the devil – I Pet. 5:8, James 4:7-8
vii. Be filled with Holy Spirit – Gal. 5:16
H: CONCLUSION
The cluster of moral filth and evil from the things that we see in movies, the internet, television, in unhealthy relationships, false teachers, etc have destroyed the condition of our hearts from being pliable to receive the true Word of God.
After you are saved your mind, and body are still the same, your mind is still open to all kinds of thoughts Romans 12:2, I Cor. 9:27, Rom 7:18. You must learn how to control your flesh and thoughts.
Getting rid of filthiness is exclusively for our benefit therefore all hands must be on deck to ensure our lives are free of filthiness. Let us raise the flag of Holiness and mantra of this Administration of R.A.I.S.E.
